COATSOME ME-6081 (POPE), or 1-Palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine, is a ≥99% pure synthetic phospholipid. Featuring a C16:0 fatty acid (16 carbon atoms, no double bonds, palmitic acid) at the sn-1 position and a C18:1 fatty acid (18 carbon atoms, 1 double bond, oleic acid) at the sn-2 position, POPE provides a small phosphoethanolamine headgroup, promoting membrane curvature and facilitating membrane fusion in lipid-based formulations.
POPE is suitable for liposomal and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations requiring high membrane flexibility, and supports the development of advanced drug delivery systems requiring enhanced membrane fusion or endosomal escape.
