COATSOME MC-8081 (SOPC), or 1-Stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, is a ≥99% pure synthetic phospholipid. Featuring a C18:0 fatty acid (18 carbon atoms, no double bonds, stearic acid) at the sn-1 position and a C18:1 fatty acid (18 carbon atoms, 1 double bond, oleic acid) at the sn-2 position, SOPC provides a balanced membrane profile combining structural stability with high fluidity, making it suitable for advanced liposomal and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations.
With a phase transition temperature (Tc) of approximately 7°C, SOPC remains in a fluid phase at physiological temperatures, supporting the development of stable and flexible drug delivery systems.
