Lubricants – PTFE Substitutes

PTFE is well known as a lubricity improver. MODIPER® A, a series of graft copolymers manufactured by NOF that do not use fluorinated raw materials, can improve the sliding properties of POM, PA, PPS, PBT, and PET. The followings are the example data about MODIPER® A1100 and MODIPER® A1401 for POM and PA66. Adding 10 wt.% of MODIPER® A to POM or PA66, the abrasion loss of both compounded materials is significantly reduced and the coefficients of kinetic friction are lower than PTFE. In addition, MODIPER has a lower specific gravity than PTFE (2.1 for PTFE vs. 0.98 for MODIPER® A1401), enabling weight reduction of parts.

Polymer Processing Aids (PPA) – Fluoropolymer Substitutes

When processing polyolefins, fluoropolymers are often used as PPAs to alleviate melt fracture, shark skin, orange peel, and die build-up. Our Metal Stearate materials are naturally derived and can also reduce die build-up in the extrusion process.
