About the Product
NOFMER® MSD is a multifunctional chemical product designed for polymer processing applications.
It functions as a chain transfer agent (CTA) for styrene‑containing polymers such as polystyrene (PS), AS polymers, and SB latexes.
In addition, NOFMER® MSD can be used as a crosslinking co‑agent and scorch retarder in LDPE crosslinking (XLPE) processes.
Through this combination of functions, the product supports controlled molecular weight, balanced crosslinking, and improved processing stability in polymer systems.

Features
- Functions as a chain transfer agent for PS, AS polymers, and SB latexes
- Acts as both a crosslinking co‑agent and a scorch retarder in LDPE crosslinking (XLPE)
- Enables molecular weight reduction while maintaining a narrow molecular weight distribution
- Exhibits lower odor compared with mercaptan‑based chain transfer agents and conventional retarders such as BHT
Applications
- Coating materials (as a chain transfer agent)
- High‑voltage electric cable insulation (as a crosslinking co‑agent and retarder)
- Polymer systems requiring controlled molecular weight and scorch suppression
Technical Performance Overview
From the perspective of chain transfer performance, NOFMER® MSD shows chain transfer constants within the effective range for molecular weight control in styrene polymerization systems.
Compared with conventional mercaptan‑based CTAs, the product enables molecular weight reduction with improved control over molecular weight distribution.
In LDPE crosslinking applications, NOFMER® MSD demonstrates balanced performance by promoting crosslinking at curing temperature while effectively suppressing premature scorch during processing.
