For site specific delivery, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) modified with ligands are widely used. SUNBRIGHT GS-020MA is a functionalized PEG lipid designed for efficient ligand conjugation in LNP drug delivery systems. It features two C18:0 fatty acids (18 carbon atoms, no double bonds, stearic acid) connected at the 1- and 2-positions of a glycerol backbone, with a 2,000 Da polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain linked at the 3-position and terminated with a maleimide group. The maleimide group allows site-specific conjugation with thiol-containing molecules such as peptides, antibodies, or other ligands, enabling precise cellular targeting and enhanced formulation versatility of LNPs. GS-020MA does not have a charge that could adversely affect the stability of LNPs and is useful for developing active targeting delivery systems.
